The year is 2019. A Chinese-owned app titled “TikTok” is launched at the top of the App Store downloads and is taking the planet by storm. 19 of the over 1 billion users decided to come together and create an influencer house titled “The Hype House”
Founded by Thomas Petrou, the 19 creators began to take the social media world by storm, with Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae taking the forefront of the popularity. Many of the creators in this organization benefitted from the popularity of the others but were never able to make a career for themselves. One of those people was Alex Hughes, better known as Alex Warren.
Warren and fellow Hype House member Kovur Annon were actively in a relationship for years before they joined the group. Annon would end up being one of the driving factors giving Alex Warren his boost to keep his career alive and well.
After leaving the group in 2021 with Kovur by his side, Alex released his debut single “One More I Love You”, a heart-wrenching tale of how Warren dealt with being raised by a single alcoholic mother, and despite the fact that she caused him so much anguish, he wishes he had more time with her. More time to say I love you.
This is just one of the litany of examples from Alex’s discography that shows off what makes him different from other artists with his background. He has a unique gift to put his troubled past and overall awful experiences, into song form, creating a piece of music that creates a sense of comfort and relatability to a big core of his audience.
Off the backs of “One More I Love You” and 2 more singles “Screaming Underwater” as well as “Remember Me Happy”, Warren ended up signing a record deal with Atlantic Records, getting his career the rocket ship to the moon that he needed.
The steep rise in popularity for Alex came in 2024. In that year, he released 4 singles as a part of his debut album “You’ll Be Alright Kid”. Those were “Burning Down”, “Before You Leave Me”, “Save You A Seat” and “Carry You Home”. Though only 2 charted domestically (neither breaking the top 50) the songs blew up on Tiktok, further popularizing Warren with those who maybe aren’t familiar with his style of music.
His sole 2025 release “Ordinary” is slated to be his biggest song to date by a very comfortable margin. Released back in February, the song is already over 100 million streams, and is currently 4th on his most streamed songs.
All of this is without mentioning his tours. Beginning in clubs, Warren began touring in 2022. As his career began to popularize, his tours did too. He soon upgraded to theater shows, and now is starting to perform in arenas across the planet.
It’s safe to say that Alex Warren is the next big thing in music.
But this begs the question. With over 1.5 Billion active users, why is Alex one of the only ones from this generation to make it big and make it into the spotlight?
The short answer is that none of the musicians who have made a career off of content creation have the skills to compare with Alex.
The long answer is the fact that the platform is so oversaturated with music, that good artists get buried, and bad music gets elevated. So many people have tried their hardest to make the jump from content creation to music, but very few if any are successful.
While a hefty majority of the music posted onto platforms such as TikTok isn’t worth taking a second look at, it’s important to identify the good ones. Alex Warren is one of the good ones.
With lyrics that make you want to either curl up in the fetal position and cry or go celebrate with the one you love the most, Alex Warren is proof that good music can come from anywhere. All you have to do is look for it.
