It has been a very long time since we’ve seen Bruno Mars shine in the limelight of solo performance. Yes, he did release a collabrotive album with Anderson Paak under the name Silk Sonic back in 2021, but his last solo album (24k Magic) turns eight years old on November 18th.

Unfortunately we do have to wait longer until mars breaks his 8 year album-less streak. However, we recently just got a great return from one of the all time greats.

Many fans began to become worried when it was reported that Mars was almost 50 million dollars in debt due to gambling problems. Apart of his deal with MGM Grand, he would be paid 90 million dollars to perform over 12 dates in the MGM Grand arena in Las Vegas. But after taxes, that money would’ve barely put a dent into the money he owes. “MGM Grand ‘Owned him'” a Yahoo article stated.

But in the depths of all of his struggles and trials, came a savior nobody saw coming. Stefani Germanotta, more famously known as Lady Gaga.

An August 13th post from the Hits magazine’s rumor mill section, revealed that Gaga and Mars were collaborating on a piece, even leaking the title “Die with a smile”. Two days later, the song was announced.

Gaga and Mars have a lot of mutual respect for one another. Both artists have been staples of the 2010’s pop music scene, and having albums topping the charts with “Born this way” and “Unorthodox Jukebox” respectively.

In a press release, Gaga revealed that the song materialized while she was recording her upcoming studio album in Malibu California. One night, after a long day of recording, Mars invited her to his studio to hear some music that he was working on. At that time Mars laid down the track.

Gaga was quote “blown away” when she heard it, and by the end of the night, the duo had finished writing and recording the piece. She later described Mars’ talent as ‘Beyond Explanation’ and ‘Next level’. Mars reciprocated adding that gaga made this song ‘Magical’.

The two began following one another on instagram the same day, sparking rumors that a piece may be in the works. Two days later, the song was officially announced and released.

The song itself is a warm welcome back to the style that made bruno mars as a musician both literally and figuratively. That is, of course, the RNB/Soul feel that pairs so well with Mars’ vocals.

In the same press release, Gaga confirmed that this will be a one off, and unfortunately, there will not be an album with the two of them. However, she did put another album on her fans radar saying “wait till LG7”, which will mark her 7th studio album.
