After an absolutely wild night last night, we get another great night of wrestling tonight! Tribal Chief vs the American Nightmare, the Visionary vs the Scottish warrior, the genius of the sky vs the role model. All this and more on a loaded card. Without further ado let’s get into it!
(C) Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre – World Heavyweight Championship
Kicking off the show is the world heavyweight title match. In their third match in a matter of 6 months, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins takes on Drew McIntyre. McIntyre deserves a WrestleMania moment. McIntyre is arguably the most improved superstar of the year as he’s developed into a witty and vengeful heel. After being robbed of his moment in front of fans back in 2020, This feels like the perfect time for McIntyre to take his spot atop the Monday Night Raw roster and finally get his WrestleMania moment.
Official Prediction: Drew McIntyre def. Seth Rollins
The Final Testament (Karrion Kross and the Authors of Pain) vs The Pride (Bobby Lashley, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins)
This match honestly I’m sneakily excited for. A brawl between two middling factions who weren’t booked to their potential. This one could go either way. Lashley and the Street Profits are the safe choice, not an inspired one. AOP was shelved for a long time and Kross has been rebooted repeatedly in the last two years. The stable might be a little hokey or crowded but they have great intensity as a brutal heel faction opposing any popular babyface. However, It’s never a bad bet to go with the Babyfaces.
Official Prediction: The Final Testament def. The Pride.
AJ Styles vs LA Knight
This match officially marks LA Knight’s WrestleMania debut. The man has been red hot for what seems like years now and finally gets his WrestleMania match. Knight and Styles have done a great job of dialing up the intensity of their feud. Knight should win this match in most cases. Even if they want to extend the feud beyond WrestleMania, the 41-year-old Knight has waited more than 20 years for this moment. Give it to him.
Official Prediction: LA Knight def. AJ Styles.
(C)Logan Paul vs Kevin Owens vs Randy Orton – United States Title
This match has one issue. The star power. I know, weird. Orton’s name is too big for the US title, and KO doesn’t need this title whatsoever. Paul’s title and continued presence here are regrettable, if only because he isn’t a regular fixture on television. Even so, his name attracts a little more attention, and it makes too much sense for him to take advantage of Owens and Orton getting knocked out to mount another covert title defense.
Official Prediction: Logan Paul def. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton
(C) Iyo Sky vs Bayley – WWE Women’s Championship
I’m sorry for Bayley. Here she is with a faction she helped construct at the end of a years-long plot, and the matchup will finally deliver her a memorable performance at WrestleMania. However, in terms of fan excitement, it’s perhaps sixth on the two-night card. Though it feels like an afterthought coming into Philly, she’ll win and perhaps have enough time to create something memorable.
Official Prediction: Bayley def. Iyo Sky
(C) Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes – Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
After the events of Night 1, we know tonight’s match will be contested under bloodline rules. Meaning anything goes. When Rhodes was defeated by Reigns at WrestleMania 39, everyone sighed. Though Paul Levesque pleaded for patience, it was difficult to see the choice as anything other than a grave error. WWE nearly destroyed it twice this year when they decided to replace Rhodes with The Rock. Thankfully, they gracefully changed course in response to criticism from the public. The two main events of WrestleMania 40 are among the most eagerly awaited in the event’s forty-year history. Perhaps this is not the ceiling, but waiting any longer would be too risky.
Attempting to promote Cody and Roman in another typical wrestling match is pointless. That was already the previous year. Now is the moment to go all out; there is no location or idea too extravagant. At the time, it will feel like a car collision, but if Rhodes wins, it will go down as a classic.
Official Prediction: Cody Rhodes def. Roman Reigns
