WrestleMania is here! the two-night event begins today at 7 pm EST. The biggest WrestleMania of all time and the biggest event on the WWE calendar goes down TONIGHT! Night one has a loaded card that I am pumped to see. Without further ado let’s get into it!
(C) Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch – WWE Women’s World Championship match
Opening the show is an exciting match. Women’s world champion Rhea Ripley gets arguably her biggest challenge to date in ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch. Lynch earned her number one contendership by winning the Women’s elimination chamber back in February.
This match is intriguing because it could go either way. Rhea Ripley has had a year-long title reign and has had a really good time as women’s world champion. Becky has spent most of 2022 and nearly all of 2023 putting over younger talent like Damage CTRL, Lyra Valkyria, Zoey Stark, and Tiffany Stratton. Part of me thinks that the year and a half or so she spent doing this will be rewarded with another world title reign.
The other part of me thinks, and honestly, wants Rhea to retain, because she has a much better story for her waiting in the wings with Liv Morgan. I do think that this is the road that WWE goes down even though, as a Becky Lynch fan I would love to see her have another world title reign
Official Prediction: Rhea Ripley def. Becky Lynch
Six Pack Ladder match (Judgement Day (C), DIY, New Day, A-Town Down Under, New Catch Republic, Awesome Truth) – Undisputed Tag team championships.
I think this can sneakily be the match of the weekend. All 6 of these teams are freaking good and the whole ladder match schtick will enhance all of these teams to make for one hell of a WrestleMania ladder match.
I do think that this match will be the match where they officially split the tag team championships, as both sets from Raw and SmackDown will be hanging from the top of the ring and the match will not end until both sets are removed. Therefore I will be picking two winners.
I think that Awesome Truth will take the raw belts although I feel like there are some more deserving teams. Like DIY and New Day. However, the WWE has been building Miz and Truth to have a WrestleMania moment and this will be where it comes.
In terms of the SmackDown titles, I think you really can’t go wrong with either New Catch Republic or A-Town Down Under grabbing those belts. However, Heel champions are a lot more fun to watch so I’ll pick Austin Theory and Grayson Waller.
Official Predictions: Awesome Truth (Raw belts) and A-Town Down Under (SmackDown Belts)
LWO (Rey Mysterio and Andrade El Idolo) vs Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio
This match will honestly be really fun. Andrade has always been really fun and exciting as an in-ring performer. having him back in WWE is very exciting especially now that he’s back with Zelina Vega. I don’t need to say much about Rey Mysterio, to be honest.
Dominik and Santos are two of the best heels on the Monday Night Raw Roster and all of the WWE. Pairing them up together feels so right. An important X factor in this match is Carlito. After Dragon Lee was inexplicably attacked yesterday on SmackDown, Carlito looked visibly shaken after hearing Andrade would be his replacement. I suspect a heel-turning is coming in this match. Either during, causing Santos and Dominik to win, or after the match. I honestly think that during the match is way more likely so I’ll be going with Rey and Santos.
Official Prediction: Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio def. Andrade El Idolo and Rey Mysterio
Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso
Brother vs Brother. Uso vs Uso. Uce vs Uce. A WrestleMania dream match. What sucks is that this match doesn’t have build, except a few run in’s on one another. They’ve mostly had to rely on residual build from other pieces of the bloodline storyline.
The match itself I’m very excited for. We saw a teaser of it at the Royal Rumble when they started both #1 and #2 and I was very impressed. As long as the WWE doesn’t get ambitious and overbook it with interferences, this match could be really good. I am going to pick Jey Uso because having Jimmy win with how many one-ups he’s had over Jey in this build feels too wrong.
Official Prediction: Jey Uso def. Jimmy Uso.
Bianca Belair, Naomi and Jade Cargill vs Damage CTRL (Asuka, Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai)
This match is a bittersweet one. Seeing 3 of the strongest and most entertaining women in WWE today team-up is a milestone. On the flip side, having Asuka lose AGAIN at WrestleMania is just gut-wrenching. But, for some reason, the WWE refuses to have Bianca Belair lose at WrestleMania so I guess I’ll go with Belair, Cargill, and Naomi
Official Prediction: Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Jade Cargill def. Asuka, Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai
(C) Gunther vs Sami Zayn – Intercontinental Championship
In my opinion, Chad Gable should be in the spot of Sami Zayn right now and there was a point where I didn’t have any excitement for this match whatsoever. That was until Chad Gable became Zayn’s trainer, very eminent in the Rocky storyline.
However, I really don’t see a world where Sami Zayn is the one to end the reign of the longest reigning intercontinental champion of all time. Sami Zayn has held that IC belt before and I believe that he should be next up in the World Title scene. With that, I’m picking Gunther to retain.
Official Prediction: Gunther def. Sami Zayn
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and The Rock) vs Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins
Your night one main event sees arguably the biggest tag team match of all time go down in the biggest WrestleMania of all time. If Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins win, then the bloodline will be barred from ringside from Seth’s and Drew’s world title matches on night two. If Rock and Roman win then it’s “Bloodline Rules”, meaning anything goes.
While Seth winning his first-ever main event would be great to see, I don’t envision it happening. A Bloodline win feels honestly necessary to further enhance the potential victory of Cody Rhodes on night two. Either way, I am very excited for this match especially with Roman, Cody, and Seth pulling double duty this weekend.
Official Prediction: The Rock and Roman Reigns def. Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes
